Kwazulu-Natal’s Road Racing Club’s race event is one of South Africa’s biggest automotive event on the motorsport calendar.
The 12th of March 2017 witnessed South Africa’s fastest bikes and cars converge to take the streets of the Dezzi South Coast Raceway for an intense inaugural SA Drag Festival.
Owner of the raceway, Desmond Gutzeit, confirms that the KZN Road Racing Club selected the country’s top drivers to match the top cars; dragging their way to the finishing line of a safe and professional racing event.
According to Gutzeit, the challenge of road racing comes with excessive speeds, producing an adrenaline rush in any competitor, but also in spectators as drivers stomp on their accelerators. The racing event turned out to be a massive turnout. Cars and bikes from across South Africa competed and showed off their haul across the Dezzi raceway.
Gutzeit explains that the key to winning comes from:
- Good engine management
- Engine choice
- Clever teamwork
- Strategy combined with tactic – in the right way
- Excellent car and bike performance
- Excellent driver performance.
With an enhanced, ‘souped-up’ car, race drivers solidified their torque with masculine horsepower, to emphasize their position in the drag race. Dezzi’s rollercoaster circuit structure also provided a highly competitive route, forcing drivers to prove their talents in driving techniques and driving skills.
