Ford takes its ‘focus’ off Drift Mode and places its headlights on making a break through to the world’s first electronic handbrake.
Drifting with the Stig in the Ford Focus RS in Drift Mode may seem like the ultimate machine to boast on the streets, but position your mind in the seamless drifting experience of Ford’s new Focus RS Drift Stick… which did we mention that it’s electronic!
The SEMA in Las Vegas has revealed just how the new Drift Stick has made getting sideways easier:
The new Focus Drift Stick uses the RS’s all-wheel-drive and anti-lock brake system to help start the ball rolling on its drifts. It does this by seamlessly opening the rear clutches and using hydraulic pressure to lock the rear wheels when yanking the aluminium lever.
Designed for high performance, Ford remains loyal to its RS hardware in its new electric system and the electric system also uses less pressure to engage and disengage, when compared to the hydraulic unit.
With the Drift Stick only available from December in the United States and Canada for $999, you’d best keep a watch over its demanding entry into the South African market – perhaps in the New Year?
